Олон Улсын Улаан Загалмайн Хороо, Монгол Улсын Их Сургуулийн Хууль Зүйн Сургууль, Монголын Улаан Загалмай Нийгэмлэг хамтран “Олон улсын хүмүүнлэгийн эрх зүйн шүүхийн мэтгэлцээн”-ийг англи хэл дээр амжилттай зохион байгууллаа.

Уг тэмцээнд Дотоод Хэргийн Их Сургууль, Их Засаг Олон Улсын Их Сургууль, Монгол Улсын Их Сургуулийн Хууль Зүйн Сургууль, Санхүү Эдийн Засгийн Их Сургууль болон Шихихутуг Хууль Зүйн Дээд Сургууль зэрэг их дээд сургуулиудын 8 баг өрсөлдөж тэмцээний тэргүүн байранд Монгол Улсын Их Сургуулийн Хууль Зүйн Сургуулийн баг, дэд байранд Их Засаг Олон Улсын Их Сургуулийн баг тус тус шалгарлаа.

Mongolia: 6th National IHL moot court 2020

Since 2015, the Mongolian Red Cross Society, International Committee of Red Cross, and National University of Mongolia have organized an International Humanitarian Law moot court competition where students argue to prosecute or defend a fictional war criminal charged before the International Criminal Court. In light of the recent events concerning COVID-19, the organizers decided to conduct the 2020 edition of the IHL Moot Court Competition, National Round for Mongolia through submission of memorials only and without an oral hearing.

Before the competition, Manduul Alimaa, International Humanitarian Law Officer of the Mongolian Red Cross Society, met with each participating university representatives and conducted a workshop on the topic “Brief introduction to International Humanitarian Law and IHL Moot Court” to law school students and teachers. 

This event featured the participation of undergraduate students from Ikh Zasag International University, National University of Mongolia, Shihihutug University, University of Finance and Economics, and University of Internal Affairs, who argued a hypothetical International Humanitarian Law related case at the pre-trial stage of the International Criminal Court.

The case featured issues relating to the classification of armed conflict, protection of civilians and medical personnel in armed conflict, the enlisting and conscription of child soldiers, and other International Humanitarian Law themes.

The National University of Mongolia team (J.Badmaarag, E.Zolzaya, and B.Byambazaya) won the championship after heated arguments with Ikh Zasag International University’s team (Boorchi Sergelen, Manlaibaatar Oyuntuul, and Badmaarag Yanjindulam). The winning team would represent Mongolia in the 19th Asia-Pacific International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition.

The event judges included representatives from the ICRC, MRCS, MoJHA, UNCT, the Administrative Court of Mongolia, Law firms, and the academic community.
